PLAY PLEASE
FARFALLE (BUTTERFLIES)
KINDUR

Produced in partnership with CRYING OUT LOUD UK

In Spring 2011, the return of the wildly successful next phase in interactive entertainment from Italian based company TPO (Teatro Di Piazza O d’Occassione) blazes trails across North America in a command US tour, providing an innovative, accessible and wholly unique brand of interactive performance to audiences nationwide. Awarded the Ade Art Digital Era prize, TPO’s stunning visuals immerse family audiences in “sensitive” theatrical environments, based on the use of interactive image and sound technologies in combination with live actors.

PLAY PLEASE (open capacity)
T.P.O have created the ultimate interactive experience! Half performance and half installation, staged on a conventional stage or off, PLAY PLEASE can be staged in a number of ways, emphasizing vocal, physical and strategic collaboration and interaction for all ages. PLAY PLEASE is free play, guided installation, and/or performance interaction staged in a pattern uniquely suited to your community. Unique to your space and varying in composition, schedule, and length, groups are guided by 2-3 performers in a fully immersive technological performance experience like nothing your family audiences have witnessed. PLAY PLEASE re-envisions the performance space and the actor for a full dissolution of the performer/spectator relationship, allowing each participant to be the center of the action.

KINDUR
TPO’s latest project for proscenum stages (500-1200 seats) takes us to the wild and enigmatic Icelandic territory. Kindur is an ecological fairytale that follows two adventurous sheep in the seasons cycle. Through the eyes of Kindur (in Icelandic “Sheep”) the audience discovers the extraordinary environmental landscape, myths and legends of Iceland. From glaciers to northern lights, from geysers to the rumble of gigantic waterfalls, every natural element seems animated by mysterious forces: a rock can become a troll and elves exert their magical power in the solitary moors. Onstage two dancers and a singer create a contemporary saga inside a rarefied scenery, where sounds and images interact using pioneering sensors and motions capture technologies.

The 2011 U.S. Premiere Tour of KINDUR is funded in part by the National Dance Project of the New England Foundation for the Arts, with lead funding from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and additional funding from the Ford Foundation, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and the Community Connections Fund of the MetLife Foundation.

FARFALLE (90-150 capacity)
FARFALLE takes audiences on a magnificent journey through a literal and symbolic story of a Butterfly’s life cycle. The story is “told” by two dancers moving inside a virtual landscape and at times, the spectator is invited to take part, to enter the scene, be enfolded by images which react to their gestures and movements.
