Featuring legendary actor Bruce Myers (Peter Brook’s The Grand Inquisitor, US Tour 2008) in his premiere portrayal of greatest of roles, the pre-eminent visionary of South Africa’s post-apartheid theater movement brings her unflinching vision to the Middle East, where the Israeli & Palestinian history of familial strife and border conflict is seen in the light of Shakespeare’s saga on the visceral, unconscious driving force in all our struggles for the soil. Farber’s first cultural investigation outside Africa follows the worldwide acclaim of her recently published trilogy of testimonial-based works (AMAJUBA: LIKE DOVES WE RISE - Spring 2006 U.S. Tour; MOLORA - Spring 2008 U.S. Tour; HE LAY QUIETLY), offering a narrative from which we confront not only our mortality but the inevitability of our own exile via the darkest, most poignant and ambiguous of Shakespeare’s texts realized in a searing new form.
